The snow was shortlived, and warmer temperatures brought spring showers.  Since the beginning of April, we have received roughly 2.5-4.5″ spread geographically over 3 rain events.  Prior to the rainfall, we had the opportunity to begin field operations… currently 25% done spraying preplant and 10% done working ground ahead of corn planting.  We are pleased to have started field operations, and the past few weeks cold and wet weather has allowed us to catch up on some additional projects.   The chemical induction system and liquid flow meter system has been tested and is operational, we had the opportunity to seed some grass around the liquid fertilizer containment (waiting on fields to dry out for CRP seeding projects), a graphite hopper was added to the seed tender (this hopper will allow us to use bulk graphite and talc for seed lubricant) and Dennis was able to run RTK guidance lines for planting and spraying.  Current projects involve burning brush piles from this winter’s tree projects, preparing the drills for soybean planting and the sidedress applicators for field operations.
