5/27/13 – Spring Update

Grant with James Brokaw, the 2013 Noland Family Ag Scholarhip Receipient. Taken at Meridian High School.
Since our last update, much has happened around our farm. Corn planting stands at 90% completion, soybeans at 25% and the rain keeps coming! Rainfall was the limiting factor and thief that stole corn yield in 2012… safe to say that 2013 has not experienced the same challenges. As the conditions appear to move from one extreme to the next, we have transitioned from a drought to the soil maxing out its water holding capacity. We had the opportunity to award our scholarship to a graduating senior at Meridian High School. James Brokaw, the first recipient, plans to attend the University of Illinois.
